How fast is Jio 5G?
Jio 5G is designed to provide peak data rates of up to 20 Gbps per IMT-2020 requirements. Qualcomm Technologies’ flagship 5G solution, Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X65, is designed to achieve up to 10 Gbps at full downlink data rates.
But Jio 5G is more than just speed. In addition to higher peak data rates, Jio 5G is designed to expand to a new spectrum such as mmWave, which provides much higher network capacity.
Jio 5G can also provide significantly lower latency for faster response, and provide a more uniform user experience overall, enabling data rates to remain consistently high as users move. And the new 5G NR cellular network is backed by a gigabit LTE coverage foundation that can provide gigabit-class connectivity everywhere.
How does Jio 5G work?
Like 4G LTE, Jio 5G is based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and operates on the same cellular network principles. However, the new 5G New Radio (NR) air interface further enhances OFDM to provide a much higher level of flexibility and scalability.
Jio 5G will not only provide faster and better mobile broadband services compared to 4G LTE but will also expand into new service areas such as mission-critical communications and large-scale IoT connectivity. This is made possible by many new 5G NR air interface design technologies, such as the new standalone TDD subframe design.
